Castles in the Air: Interior Farce

A station, a notice board, or a sculpture?

The new artwork created by Bella Rune and Jonas Nobel, inspired by the interior of the Kristallen City Hall, is all of these things at once. The artwork, located on Level 5, is constructed from materials from K’s previous exhibitions and expresses the same loyalty to craftsmanship as Kiruna’s old city hall did. Rune and Nobel were K’s resident artists in November 2025.

The color scheme is inspired by the beams that were in the now-demolished building. From there, the artists have also borrowed a preserved lamp, a coat hook, and part of a wooden balustrade and incorporated them into their new work. Another element is material from the workshops they held in Norrbotten in 2025.
